The 40,000 square foot store at 2924 Springfield Rd. opened Thursday, Sept. 8, aiming to offer residents low-priced goods and a convenient shopping experience.

Amazon's "Just Walk Out" technology uses cameras around the store to detect exactly what goes into every cart and items are automatically added to shoppers' Amazon apps as they go.

"Customers who opt for Just Walk Out shopping can enter the store in three ways: They can scan the QR code in their Amazon app, use Amazon One to scan their palm, or insert a credit or debit card linked to their Amazon account," the company says.

At the end of their trip, customers shopping with the "Just Walk Out" experience simply scan or insert their entry method again to leave.

The store has all the typical grocery store departments. Shoppers can also get fresh-baked bread and made-to-order pizzas, as well as rotisserie chickens and hot sandwiches.

The Broomall store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The company will be hosting grand-opening festivities all weekend long at the new grocery store.

Pennsylvania's first Amazon Fresh store opened in Warrington last summer.
